Railcar Repair Team Member - Dayton, TX

Location: Dayton, TX

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, cutting, and mechanical type repairs.
• Operate forklift.
• Document work performed and record material usage.
• Ensure paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct.
• Complete repair jobs in a timely manner.
• Keep vehicles and shops clean and safe.
• Ensure employees work in a safe manner.
• Assist with inspection and repairs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Railcar mechanical experience preferred; background in welding and cutting.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel.

Environmental and Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physically strenuous work; frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Lift and carry objects up to 50 lb.
• Occasional use of a 30 lb claw bar (requires 50 lb of force) and a 10 lb sledge hammer (requires 75 lb of force).
• Walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails, and ballast safely.
• Navigate confined spaces if necessary.
• Work in indoor shop or outdoor environments around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment.
• Frequent exposure to weather elements; wear appropriate PPE.
