General Summary
Principal Job Functions
- Performs clinic reception including greeting patients, patient registration and answering the telephone.
- Affixes vital signs, height and weight to patient charts and prepares patient for visit.
- Assists the medical provider with examinations and procedures under the direction of the medical provider or Registered Nurse.
- Prepares patient for x-ray; explains procedures to patient and/or family; prepares room, equipment and materials as needed.
- Positions patient and arranges immobilization and support devices for patient.
- Practices radiation protection/safety techniques to limit exposure to patient and medical staff.
- Adjusts equipment controls; determines proper voltage and exposure time; administers routine x-ray exams.
- Observes patient and machine during procedure; reports unusual occurrences to physician.
- Documents procedure performed in patient record.
- Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment; maintains inventory and orders x-ray supplies.
- Performs x-ray quality assurance tests and maintains x-ray quality assurance records.
- Transmits x-ray images to radiology group for interpretation; completes follow-up of x-ray transmission with phone call.
- Reports any problems with x-ray equipment promptly to physician; notifies Office Supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as directed.

- Recognizes and reacts to emergency procedures per role and policies/procedures.
Maintains Professional Growth and Development
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Participates in Meetings, Committees and Department Projects
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technologist program required.
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
Other Credentials / Certifications
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
Additional Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
- Current listing on the Nebraska Medication Aide registry required.
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant (MA) program preferred.
