Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the facility’s ideology, mission, goals, and objectives
- Performs in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures
- Follows the facility’s standards for ethical business conduct
- Counsels patients on their rights and responsibilities
- Respects patients' privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
- Participates in facility committees, meetings, in-services, inventory and activities
- Maintains professional relationships with management and medical staff
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers

- Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices
- Reports wasteful practices
- Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements
- Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted compliance program
- Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures
- Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted performance-improvement program

- Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care
- Participates in data collection activities to support the performance-improvement program
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities
- Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to the safety officer or other designated person
- Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences
- Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff

- Welcomes suggestions and recommendations
- Completes duties according to the requirements of each procedure requiring radiological support
- Assembles necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduling procedures according to physician’s preference card
- Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition
- Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction
- Documents records and other forms, accurately adhering to approved policies/procedures
- Confirms that all persons in the room are appropriately shielded before activating x-ray
- Communicates information about the patient’s status to other persons responsible for patient care
- Applies the prescribed procedures to competently perform radiology technician functions
- Follows principles of aseptic technique in performing duties during the procedure
- Remains available during the procedure to provide timely responses to physician or patient needs
- Follows manufacturer’s specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing x-ray procedure
- Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies, and equipment by adhering to cleaning care, storage, and calibration procedures as directed
- Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety
- Maintains adequate supplies to provide immediate availability during the procedure
- Maintains a clean and organized work area
- Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician
Qualifications
- Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Requirements
- Associates degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program
- Radiology technician certification in the state of Kentucky
- Two or more years of experience working as a radiology technician preferred
- CPR / AED and First Aid certification preferred
