About the role
Provides assistance to the clinical team ensuring surgical schedule is followed, sets up sterile surgical trays, assists the Medical Director with surgical cases, manages and stores patient radiographic images. Interacts with patients, physicians, and dialysis facilities as part of the community educational program.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures
- Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body
- Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation
- Moves imaging equipment into specified positions, determines exposure factors, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
- Participates in monthly radiation safety meetings
- Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures
- Aids radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
- Assists with surgery by scrubbing and assisting
- Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
- Obtains and saves images during procedures
- Maintains inventory of medical supplies and performs end-of-month supply counts
- Manages procedural images by preparing equipment, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and uploading to directory
- Ensures confidentiality of all user names/passwords assigned to you; ensures PHI (including electronic) is not compromised
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the Florida State Department of Health Services
- Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist
- Completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required; Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology (CV) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology certification preferred
Qualifications
- Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques
- Regional and gross anatomy of the human body
- Standardized radiologic clinical procedures
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and safety precautions
- The operation and care of modern radiologic equipment
- The ordering and storing of supplies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
