About the role
The Manager of Radiology Services oversees department activities, ensuring safety to both patients and staff. They lead human resources functions including training, competency assurance, and safe staffing levels. Budget management, regulatory compliance, and departmental indicator monitoring are also key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Provides supportive and compassionate leadership to staff.
- Responds to staff requests in a timely manner.
- Ensures accurate and timely communication.
- Supports staff during conflicts with other disciplines and services.
- Coordinates department activities, ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Acts as a professional liaison with the Medical Staff.
- Determines staffing matrix and posts open positions.
- Expedites screening and interviewing process.
- Determines standards of performance and ensures staff orientation and performance meets expectations.
- Accurately evaluates staff performance and completes annual evaluations.
- Promotes staff development and maintains staffing levels consistent with acuity calculations.
- Develops and manages the budget according to organizational goals and patient safety standards.
- Reviews monthly departmental accounting detail for accuracy and corrects as needed.
- Performs radiographic exams when needed.
- Processes film and evaluates technical quality independently.
Requirements
- Associates Degree, Graduate of an AMA accredited program in radiologic technology.
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- Specialized training in Nuclear medicine and Ultrasound Technology (preferred).
- Supervisory experience in all medical imaging functions.
- Previous experience as a radiology technician.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Current California licensed ARRT, CRT.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of AOA/JCAHO/DHS/CMS standards specific to the position.
- Understanding of the Continuous Quality Improvement Process.
- Ability to define performance improvement and verbalize at least one major goal of the performance improvement program.
- Experience with quality improvement problem-solving processes (PDCA).
- Knowledge of at least one departmental or hospital-wide improvement initiative within the last 12 months.
- Ability to make recommendations for service improvements.
- Continuous self-improvement through attending continuing education classes.
