About the Role
Be the heart of compassionate care in a patient care support role with us! In this vital role, you'll provide essential assistance and comfort to patients, ensuring they receive the best possible experience during their healthcare journey. As a Radiology Extern, you are responsible and accountable for cleaning and setting up equipment, assisting technologists and other healthcare workers, and providing quality patient care and services.
This is a temporary, per diem position with a rotating shift.
Responsibilities
- Organize work assignments and conduct imaging room set-up
- Perform patient verification and explain procedures to patients
- Assist in patient transfers from and to beds and wheelchairs
- Maintain the supplies room and set up exam rooms
- Accurately position patients on applicable equipment for exams
- Ensure patient comfort and engage patients and coworkers in ethical conduct
- Adhere to regulatory requirements
- Transport patients to and from various facility departments
- Make a positive identification of the patient and verify transport mode and special needs (IV pumps, O2 tank, etc.) with nursing
- Serve as a communication link between Nursing and various departments
- Communicate any continued care needs of the patient during transit to Nursing or the specialty area
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current enrollment or recent completion in a Radiology Program
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association)
