About the role
Works under the direction of the director, assistant director, and supervisor to perform a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, specimens, and equipment to and from the Imaging Services department.
Responsibilities
- Safely lift and physically manipulate patients.
- Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Demonstrate visual and auditory acuity for watching monitors and following instructions during procedures.
- Operate assigned equipment and perform all procedures in a safe manner while delivering high-quality service to patients and customers.
- Maintain the area, equipment, and supplies; remove outdated supplies and return them to materials management.
- Perform daily cleaning of all patient transport equipment.
- Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Apply AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and other evidence-based behaviors when caring for patients.
- Show empathy and care to patients and family members.
- Practice standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials.
- Comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines to reduce hospital-acquired infections and other conditions.
- Actively help the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings.
- Comply with all Federal, State, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
- Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs, push equipment up to 150 lbs, and assist with the movement of adult patients weighing over 300 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the entire scheduled shift.
Preferences
- Ability to manage and utilize technological resources (computers, phones, tablets, etc.).
- CNA/LNA experience.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- EMT experience.
Special Position Requirements
- Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
- Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
- Possible exposure to blood products and radiation.
