Radiology Tech Assistant Per Diem/Weekends

About the Role

Commits to providing a respectful, caring, attentive, and efficient patient-centered experience to all patients, family members, visitors, providers, and co-workers. Remains competent in assisting with imaging exams, performs clerical duties including record keeping, and maintains high-quality services. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and care providers while promoting positive working relationships.

• Checks orders for complete information and appropriateness criteria.
• Schedules exams as needed and obtains sufficient information to determine procedure timing.
• Adheres to established protocols, quality assurance guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Assists with coordinating work assignments to ensure smooth workflow.
• Sets up imaging rooms, ensuring proper isolation and precautions when needed.
• Verifies patients using name and date of birth, explains studies clearly, and provides information/resources to patients and families.
• Safely transports patients using appropriate modes of transport and proper hand-off communication.
• Transfers patients to/from carts, beds, and wheelchairs using lifting devices.
• Positions patients ensuring comfort and modesty while exhibiting a caring attitude.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and well-stocked work area.
• Accurately records patient exams and follows proper billing procedures.
• Rotates within departments for coverage and support as required.
• Notifies staff of equipment malfunctions and adheres to corporate/departmental policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• No previous experience required.
• AHA BLS certification (must obtain before end of orientation period if not already licensed).
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic life support training.

Skills

• Able to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced imaging environment with potential exposure to severely ill/injured patients.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Frequent physical demands: Sitting, standing, walking, carrying objects, pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching forward, reaching overhead, wrist position deviation, pinching/fine motor activities.

Occasional physical demands: Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), squatting/kneeling/crawling, keyboard use/repetitive motion.

Continuous physical demands: Talking or hearing.

Lifting requirements: Floor to waist: 50 lbs; Waist level and above: 50 lbs.

Sensory requirements: Accurate near/far vision, color discrimination, moderate depth perception, moderate hearing.

Anticipated occupational exposure risks: Bloodborne pathogens, airborne communicable diseases, radiation.

Pay

The pay range for this full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position is $17.00 - $20.85 per hour. Actual compensation may differ based on assigned hours, position status (e.g., part-time), and other relevant factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. The range reflects base compensation only and does not include potential bonuses, incentive compensation, differential pay, or benefits.
