Radiologic Technologist/Mammography

About the Role

Operates radiology equipment to produce radiographic images of specified areas of the body and performs related technical x-ray procedures, in accordance with physicians' orders and standard techniques. Makes members/patients and their needs a primary focus, developing and sustaining productive relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs.

Responsibilities

• Complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership.
• Ensures patient safety in preparation and provisioning of care, including use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs.
• Reports safety hazards, accidents, incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
• Instructs patients in a courteous manner regarding imaging procedures.
• Positions patients and operates mammographic and/or radiographic equipment.
• Performs radiographic procedures, both fixed and portable.
• Reviews images for accuracy and technical quality; repeats images as needed and submits for interpretation.
• Practices ALARA principles and ensures proper radiation safety practices.
• Assists with procedures, provides patient education, obtains informed consent, and documents information as required.
• Documents quality control as required for MQSA.
• Utilizes Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
• Monitors equipment condition and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
• Communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrates courteous and appropriate telephone skills.
• Considers cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation in delivery of services.
• Exercises clinical judgment within scope of practice.
• May work with students and perform reception duties such as scheduling appointments.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Successful completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiology Technology (JRCERT).
• Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist.
• Ability to operate radiologic equipment and perform related technical procedures.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a radiologic technologist/mammographer.

Pay

$46.11 - $60.30 per hour. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not reflect the full value of the total rewards package. Actual base pay will be determined at offer based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule

• Part-time, 32 hours per week.
• Variable shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays (Mon-Sun).
• Onsite at Franklin Medical Offices in Denver, Colorado.
• Travel: 100% of the time within authorized states.
