About the Role

Under direct and indirect supervision, provides general radiology and fluoroscopic imaging in the radiology department, emergency department, surgery, morgue, and portable bedside service areas.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiologic examinations according to departmental protocols within diagnostic imaging, operating room, emergency department, and hospital patient rooms; positions patients, provides immobilization devices as required, and selects technical factors for optimal imaging.
  • Reviews orders, correlates patients' clinical history with exams, and reviews previous studies for follow-up or progressive requests.
  • Consults with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as needed.
  • Follows all National Patient Safety Goals; double-identifies patients using appropriate criteria prior to performing studies.
  • Ensures accuracy of information and data entry while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Captures required documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Assists with screening patients for contraindications; prepares sterile fields, contrast agents, and floor stock medications.
  • Maintains sterility of surgical packs, trays, and disposables; ensures adequate supplies during procedures.
  • Assists radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures; operates general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems.
  • Post-processes and reviews images; prepares images for Radiologist interpretation and transmits them to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and devices; reports malfunctions, accidents, or unsafe conditions.
  • Provides compassionate, service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures and answering questions.
  • Dismisses patients for transport or assists with transport at the end of procedures.
  • Provides safety instructions to patients, family members, and hospital staff; ensures safety precautions are followed.
  • Applies ALARA Principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients and self; records fluoroscopy time used during procedures.
  • Functions as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
  • Maintains daily materials, linen supply, and general order and cleanliness of assigned rooms.
  • Rotates and shares on-call responsibilities for General Radiology service areas.
  • Pursues ongoing continuing education; attends departmental meetings and/or in-service presentations.
  • Performs post-mortem radiology, including taking X-rays of cadavers in the hospital morgue.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology from an accredited school or two (2) years of experience in a directly related area.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certificate - Radiography required at hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgery experience.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Shift: Day (07:00 AM – 05:30 PM).
  • Workdays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
  • Onsite role with 10% travel required.

Pay

$44.45 - $48.08 per hour. Actual base pay determined at offer based on labor market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications.
