About the role

Under the general supervision of the Radiation Oncologist, the Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation and participates in the planning of patients receiving radiation therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Support medical center and department policies
  • Perform initial set-up checks, chart QA for new set-ups, and maintain consistency in daily setups
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform simulation and treatment procedures
  • Assist with training and evaluation of radiation therapy students
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety standards
  • Participate in the evaluation of treatment devices
  • Participate and support department QA and QI initiatives
  • Adhere to Radiation Protection guidelines at all times
  • Attend staff meetings and department in-services
  • Maintain compliance with medical center and regulatory agency standards in regard to annual training, infection control, and credentialing requirements
  • Support the team concept and departmental goals
  • Perform other duties as requested by senior management

Requirements

  • A completed high school diploma or GED from an accredited educational body
  • The satisfactory completion of a formal radiation therapy program from an AMA approved educational body
  • Certification from the American Registry for Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or be eligible to sit for the board exam
  • License with the Illinois Emergency Medical Agency (IEMA)

Pay

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience, and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
