Responsibilities
- Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients.
- Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedure.
- Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
- Prepares room and equipment for patient.
- Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, nurses, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
- Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
- Performs IGRT procedures for tumor localization.
- Prepares patient and equipment for, and performs simulation procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Associates Degree Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program.
- Required or Associates Degree Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Required Work Experience: 3 years Relevant experience.
- Required Licenses: Registered Technologist-Radiation Therapy - ARRT within 180 days Required and Basic Life Support within 180 days Required.
- Required Courses And Training: Appropriate training in radiation therapy. Upon Hire Required and Appropriate specialized training. Upon Hire Required.
About the Role
Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to Wellspan Oncology Service Line established standards and practices. Performs CT-simulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures requiring specialized skills/training at an advanced skill level.
