About the Role

The Manager of Radiation Oncology directs and coordinates all activities of the Radiation Oncology Department, ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies, policy development, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement capital and operational budgets; review monthly financial statements to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Create and execute quality improvement plans to maintain high-quality outcomes and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Manage departmental human resources, including staffing recommendations, qualifications assessment, orientation, education, annual evaluations, and coaching/mentoring.
  • Schedule staff, monitor attendance, and approve paid time off (PDO) requests.
  • Ensure the department meets or exceeds all regulatory, accrediting body, and state licensing standards.
  • Develop and implement department policies, procedures, and job descriptions; initiate process improvement strategies.
  • Operate within a legal and ethical framework, ensuring adherence to corporate compliance guidelines, mission, strategic plan, and applicable laws.
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude with customers and co-workers, contributing to the efficient operation of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree (MBS, MHA) preferred.
  • Three years of radiation oncology experience preferred; two years in a supervisory role required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Financial management and personnel skills necessary.
  • General knowledge of all Radiation Oncology departmental activities and ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Proficiency in computers for spreadsheet computations and word processing.
  • Current licensure (RTT or RN) preferred; American Heart Association BLS required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Considerable mental concentration on variable projects.
  • Frequently works under stressful conditions due to patient care and time objectives.
  • Physical demands include lifting above the shoulders, shoulder to knee, and knee to floor (up to 50lb/25kg).

Working Conditions

  • Standard radiation worker safety health hazards inherent in the position.
  • Minimal exposure to radioactive materials, metal alloy, blood/body fluids, infectious diseases, bio-hazardous materials, and hostile persons.
  • Standard office conditions while performing non-technical duties.
