About the role
As a Radiation Analysis Intern, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and designers to assist in the development of analytical models for radiation shielding, criticality analysis, or dose assessment using state-of-the-art analysis software. The position will be located in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.
Your Day To Day
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to make design tradeoffs and decisions relating to shielding of a terrestrial or marine-based nuclear reactor system.
- Produce radiation dose maps for assessment of shielding solutions.
- Develop calculational tools for more efficient analyses.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student, pursuing a degree in engineering.
- Must have strong interest in nuclear engineering and/or radiation health physics.
- Must have taken mid-level nuclear engineering courses, including neutronics and radiation physics.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with nuclear analysis tools (MCNP, SCALE, Attila or other), Linux OS, CAD (Solidworks, SpaceClaim, etc.), and a programming language is a plus.

Pay
$25.05 - $31.83 per hour.
