About the role

The Staff Physicist works within the Department of Radiation Oncology, reporting to the Chief of Physics and working under the guidance of the Director of Clinical Physics and Medical Physicist Lead. They perform and review all aspects of radiotherapy patient and equipment-related planning and quality assurance. The primary responsibility is to ensure the best possible treatment is provided to patients in Radiation Oncology. Responsibilities include clinical service, research/development, and education/training based on assignments from the Chief of Physics and Director of Clinical Physics.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in physics, medical physics, or a related field or Doctorate of Medical Physics or demonstrated equivalency through experience as well as being listed as an Authorized Medical Physicist (AMP) on a Nuclear Regulatory License (NRC).
  • Completion of a CAMPEP-approved Medical Physics residency program in Radiation Oncology or 1–2 years of experience in a related field (desirable).
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics (required upon hire).
