About the role
We seek personnel to assist with track prep, various areas of the staging lanes, and on the drag strip (ready line, water box, and start line) at the Sonoma Raceway during the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge. As a member of the Race Operations Team, you will be an essential part of the guest experience. Your job will be to keep our fans, racers, and crew members safe and informed while still maintaining a fun and friendly atmosphere. Team members are responsible for maintaining safety protocols, communicating effectively with drivers and fans, and fostering a fun, friendly atmosphere throughout race events.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties on the drag strip including ready line, water box, and start line operations during race events
- Ensure the safety of guests, participants, and staff by enforcing safety protocols
- Communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, crew members, and other race operations personnel
- Maintain a professional, fun, and friendly atmosphere while interacting with fans and participants
- Follow directions from race officials and supervisors to support efficient event operations
- Adapt to changing assignments and work locations as needed during events
- Contribute to the overall guest experience by delivering excellent customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned to support race day operations and events
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be flexible with meal periods
- Must be able to enforce policies and procedures, including start line policies, to ensure a safe environment for all guests
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, run, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under NHRA insurance policy
- A general knowledge of racing is preferred
- Must arrive on time and ready to work at shift start
- Able to work well within a team and independently
- Able to understand and follow written and verbal directions
- Able to communicate effectively with coworkers, racers, crew members, and guests
- Must be able to handle sounds at a high volume
