R.O.W. Maintenance Worker II

Under the direction of the Assistant Foreman, this role supports Tama County’s roadside Vegetation Management Program through fieldwork and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and chemical control of vegetation, including spraying, hydroseeding, mowing, and controlled burning.
• Enhance public safety by clearing line-of-sight obstructions and assisting with site restoration and erosion control.
• Maintain accurate records related to vegetation management activities.
• Conduct snow removal and minor bridge maintenance as needed.
• Complete additional duties as assigned, working independently with minimal supervision.

Based at the County Maintenance Shed B in Toledo.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Iowa Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no air brake, manual transmission, or tractor-trailer restrictions.
• Valid Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Right-of-Way) or ability to obtain one immediately upon hire.
• Pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.

Pay

$28.38 per hour with a full benefits package.

Schedule

Generally 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, except during poor road conditions.
