About the role

Performs a variety of tasks to support manufacturing including equipment fabrication, modification, and repairs. May also be involved in building and facility fabrication, modification, and maintenance.

This is a Maintenance Technician II position working under minimal supervision, using spreadsheets and databases to document maintenance, and demonstrating effective troubleshooting skills on production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents maintenance performed and all pertinent maintenance records.
  • Constructs and repairs structures such as walls, doors/windows, stairs, roofs, bins, partitions, and office equipment.
  • Performs MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding.
  • Mixes and applies paints and other finishing coats to interior and exterior surfaces using brush, spray gun, or roller.
  • Follows effective safety standards, practices, and techniques for general maintenance and construction work.
  • Supports zero-defect and “right-the-first-time” approaches.
  • Performs lockout/tagout functions in accordance with safe practices and company procedures.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel with daily activities.
  • Maintains a clean work area and adheres to 5S Standards.
  • Complies with established QMS procedures and safety protocols.
  • Tracks daily hours worked in the timekeeping system accurately.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs autoclaves, presses, CNC, and various other types of production equipment using standard tools and test equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally.
  • Accurate basic math skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate accurate use of a tape measure.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Ability to interpret and work from industry specifications.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to navigate files.
  • Valid driver’s license and current motor vehicle insurance with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely install a trailer hitch and tow equipment between KUAS locations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications/training to safely operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), cranes, and hoists.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Adherence to workplace rules.

Qualifications

Maintenance Technician II:

  • Preferably 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a facilities/maintenance role.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in Level II duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70e) Certification.
  • Experience in 120V single phase - 480 3 phase electrical.
  • Preferred: Molding experience.
  • Preferred: Hydraulic press maintenance experience.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, grasping, stooping, kneeling, climbing.
  • Working with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other related equipment.
  • Works in non-temperature-controlled environments both indoor and outdoor.
  • Works in confined spaces.
  • May work from a variety of surfaces, level or unleveled.
  • May work extended hours or weekends.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, hazardous materials, and dust.
  • May require the ability to use full-face and/or half-face respirator.
  • May be required to answer emergency calls after regular work hours.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • May generate, handle, manage, transport, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.

Travel Requirements

25-35% of travel is required to and from vendor locations and other KUAS offices.

Pay

$28.00 - $31.00 hourly.
