R&D Power Electronics Expert Electrical Engineer Full Time - Budd Lake, NJ

Keysight Technologies, the world's largest test and measurement equipment manufacturer, is seeking an experienced electrical engineer for hardware design in power electronics. This role is part of our Electronic Industrial Solutions Group in Budd Lake, NJ, focused on designing, manufacturing, and marketing Keysight’s power supply solutions, including multi-kilowatt switching supplies, AC sources, 30kW regenerative power solutions, solar array simulators, and AC grid emulators up to 1MW.

Responsibilities

• Design hardware for new Keysight programmable power supplies, leveraging advanced measurement and simulation tools.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop power-electronics subsystems, including switching converter designs from 500W to 50kW.
• Create cost-effective, dense designs that meet safety, EMC, and internal quality metrics.
• Apply analog design skills, including time and frequency domain measurements, and analog/digital control theory.
• Model systems using Matlab, SPICE, Saber, PLECS, or similar tools.
• Mentor new college graduates and provide technical leadership on power-electronics projects.
• Work on-site in Budd Lake, NJ, to hit project milestones efficiently and collaboratively.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to work on-site in Budd Lake, NJ, without visa sponsorship.
• Direct design experience with power electronics and switching converter designs (500W to 50kW), particularly for power supplies and regenerative grid technologies.
• Strong analog design skills, including board layout for switching converters.
• Experience with continuous and discrete signals/systems, and both analog and digital control theory.
• Proficiency in modeling systems using Matlab or circuit simulators (e.g., Saber, SPICE, PLECS).

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of hardware design experience, especially with power supplies and electronic measurement devices.
• Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) and HDL (coding, simulation, testing, debugging).
• Strong Python programming skills for clear, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Ability to collaborate across firmware, gateware, analog, and digital hardware interfaces.

Pay

NJ salary range: $138,000 – $231,000, based on experience, education, and skills. This role is eligible for Keysight’s Results Bonus Program.
