R&D BS / MS Electrical Engineer Full Time Power Electronics Hardware Design - Budd Lake, NJ
Keysight Technologies, the world's largest test and measurement equipment manufacturer, is seeking an electrical engineering major graduating in December 2026 or May 2027 (strong preference for December 2026 graduates) for a full-time R&D position in hardware design at our Budd Lake, NJ facility. About the role
This position is located in Budd Lake, NJ, within Keysight's Electronic Industrial Solutions Group, which designs, manufactures, and markets power supply solutions. Products include multi-kilowatt switching supplies, AC sources, 30kW regenerative power solutions, solar array simulators, and AC grid emulators up to 1MW. The role involves hardware-based designs for new Keysight programmable power supplies, using advanced measurement and simulation tools while working with a mentor and experienced staff.
Responsibilities
- Design hardware for new Keysight programmable power supplies.
- Work with advanced measurement and simulation tools.
- Collaborate with a mentor and experienced engineers on power electronics, switching converter design, analog design, control systems, digital signal processing, and embedded programming.
- Model systems in Matlab and circuit simulator tools like Saber.
- Develop, simulate, test, and debug HDL designs (desirable).
- Collaborate across multiple design domains, including firmware, gateware, analog, and digital hardware interfaces.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, graduating by December 2026 or May 2027 (strong preference for December 2026 graduates).
- Ability to work on-site daily in Budd Lake, NJ.
- At least one undergraduate class completed in power electronics and control systems.
- Strong fundamental skills in continuous and discrete signals and systems.
- Analog design skills, including experience in both time and frequency domain measurements.
- Familiarity with power supplies and electronic measurement devices.
- Due to US visa restrictions, candidates must be legally eligible to work in the US on a continuous basis without sponsorship.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to power electronics and switching converter design, particularly as it relates to power supply design and regenerative grid technologies.
- Coursework in analog control design; digital control design experience is a plus.
- Exposure to digital signal processing (DSP), ideally with HDL skills.
- Experience with Python programming, including writing clear, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Pay
Pay is based on experience, education, and skills, with most offers falling between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range: $76,000 – $155,000. This role is eligible for the Keysight Results Bonus Program.
