About the Role

Provide solid technical skill and engineering support for design and development activities for new and existing products. Support current products in terms of quality, manufacturing, supply continuity, and cost improvement. Participate in executing technical and/or cross-functional project work. Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts for new products and enhancements to current product performance.

Understand customer needs through literature review, customer interviews, direct observation, competitive analysis, prototype evaluation, and clinical/simulated use studies. Translate customer needs into engineering requirements into specific product, packaging, and process specifications. Engineer robust and manufacturable products through strong understanding and application of engineering fundamentals.

Develop and execute test methods which specify measurement equipment, test set-up, measurement systems analysis, and data analysis. Write detailed technical reports based on design verification analysis/testing for design changes and product design activities. Ensure compliance with client quality policies, procedures, and practices as well as with all local, state, federal, and client safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of testing protocols: Support exploratory testing to define test equipment, test fixtures, and test methods development; participate in training, test methods validation, and execution of testing as needed.
  • Effective documentation and communication of test results: Write engineering test reports and route them for approval in DHF.
  • Design of experiments activities, including for characterization, prototype testing, failure analysis, and qualification.
  • Support the deployment and evaluation of integrated systems in pre-clinical and clinical studies.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering is required (Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred).
  • 2-4 years of engineering experience is required, preferably in medical devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize statistical tools and computer analysis.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in an engineering lab.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary systems, including electromechanical and electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, LabVIEW, Matlab, and Minitab is a plus.
  • Proficiency in soldering small components and the use of tools like Multimeter, Oscilloscope, power supply, etc., is desirable.
  • An understanding of PC-based tools for testing embedded hardware is desirable.

Pay

$20–30/hr

Schedule

  • 12-month contract
  • 1st shift
  • 40 hours per week
