About the Role

The R&D Engineer III will be a key contributor on an R&D team within BD-Specimen Management. This individual will have a complete understanding of a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts, providing imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to complex problems. Works under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions. Contributes to significant projects or leads smaller scope projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support material, design, and process changes to the product line through the design control process with well-documented research and analyses.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles, experimental, computational, and analytical methods.
  • Design and develop in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate product features and improvements.
  • Apply innovative and logical risk-based approaches to product development challenges with original thinking.
  • Develop robust test methods, design test fixtures, and execute measurement system analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with quality policies, procedures, and practices through communication, training, and education on sound quality assurance principles.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze design of experiments (DOE).
  • Write, implement, and lead bench studies, tolerance stack-up analysis, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, materials specifications, and component specifications.
  • Perform data analysis using statistical tools, regression analyses, and develop transfer functions.
  • Collect, record, report, interpret, and analyze data; present results to peers and business leadership.
  • Provide advanced engineering skills and product evaluation support to build business cases for new opportunities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of engineering first principles, technical judgment, and leadership skills.
  • Participate in R&D functional planning, requirement generation, and technical (DFSS/Design/Cross-functional) reviews for all product development phases.
  • Apply strong project management, prioritization, and multitasking skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Use solid modeling tools (Pro/E, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Communicate concepts, ideas, and knowledge effectively within teams.
  • Direct associates and lead small cross-functional groups.
  • Follow disciplined phase-gate product development processes and project planning.
  • Understand Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
  • Apply Six Sigma (DMAIC) practices and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
  • Consider product development for tightly controlled high-volume manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • B.S.: 3+ years of experience in a technical area.
  • M.S.: 1+ years of experience in a technical area.
  • Experience in directing teams and leading small cross-functional groups.
  • Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

$40–$55 per hour.

Schedule

12-month contract, 40 hours per week, 1st shift.

US Citizens, Green Card holders, GC EAD, OPT, EAD, or CPT required.
