About the role
The R&D Senior Engineer will be a key contributor on an R&D team within the client’s Specimen Management, Specimen Acquisition Platform. The individual in this position will have a complete understanding of a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts and will provide imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. Works under general direction, independently determines and develops approaches to solutions, and contributes to or leads projects of significant scope.
Responsibilities
- Support material, design, and process changes to the product line through the design control process with well-documented research and analyses.
- Demonstrate accountability for successful and timely completion of designated tasks.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles, experimental, computational, and analytical methods.
- Design and develop in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate product features and improvements.
- Apply innovative and logical risk-based approaches to product development challenges with original thinking.
- Develop robust test methods, design test fixtures, and execute measurement system analysis.
- Ensure compliance with client quality policies, procedures, and practices through communication, training, and education on quality assurance principles.
- Plan, execute, and analyze design of experiments (DOE).
- Write, implement, and lead bench studies, tolerance stack-up analysis, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, materials specifications, and component specifications.
- Perform data analysis using statistical tools, regression analyses, and develop transfer functions.
- Collect, record, report, interpret, and analyze data; present results to peers and business leadership.
- Provide advanced engineering skills and product evaluation support to build business cases for new opportunities.
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of engineering first principles.
- Strong technical judgment and technical leadership skills.
- Experience with R&D functional planning, requirement generation, and technical (DFSS/Design/Cross-functional) reviews for all product development phases.
- Strong project management, prioritization, and multitasking skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in solid modeling (Pro/E, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Ability to communicate concepts, ideas, and knowledge effectively and clearly to teams.
- Experience directing associates and leading small cross-functional groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
- Disciplined phase-gate product development processes and project planning.
- Proficiency with fixture design, including basic machining considerations and test method development.
- Understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
- Knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) practices and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
- Product development considerations for tightly controlled high-volume manufacturing processes.
- Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Pay
$40–55/hour
