Quarry Operator II

Essential Job Functions

• Operate a water truck in a safe, and efficient manner to control dust and support quarry production.
• Operate skid steer to load, unload, and transport materials such as rock, gravel, sand, or crushed stone.
• Ensure the proper and safe operation of the skid steer by conducting routine pre-operation checks.
• Maintain stockpiles of materials, ensuring they are properly stored and organized.
• Absorb general labor tasks, including loading and unloading materials.
• Support the quarry team in various tasks as directed by supervisors.
• Operate basic machinery as required (e.g., wheelbarrows, hand tools, and small machines).
• Operate haul trucks to transport materials from the quarry pit to designated stockpiles, processing areas, or external sites.
• Ensure trucks are loaded and unloaded safely, avoiding damage to equipment or materials.
• Conduct daily pre-operation checks on haul trucks, including inspecting tires, fluid levels, brakes, and other vital systems.
• Work with quarry supervisor to optimize routes and material movements.
• Maintain a high level of quality work at all times.
• Support good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner.

Job Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of experience operating a skid steer.
• Previous experience in construction, quarrying, or general labor, is a plus.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with Tanker endorsement
• 3+ years of experience driving haul trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
• Ability to obtain any required certifications for specific machinery.
• Ability to communicate and convey information effectively.
• Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds.
• Knowledge of OSHA Standards.
• Ability to obtain Arsenal and FBI Badge required.
• Dependable transportation.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required.
• Work weekends and overtime as needed.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
