About The Role

TasNetworks is seeking 2 x experienced Quantity Surveyors to support the delivery of the North West Transmission Developments (NWTD) — one of Tasmania’s most significant infrastructure programs.

In this role, you will safeguard the owner’s commercial position through accurate measurement, valuation, forecasting, and disciplined contract administration across a major state infrastructure project.

You will contribute to strong commercial governance, timely processing of change, and high-quality reporting that supports confident decision-making and protects TasNetworks' financial interests.

What You’ll Do

  • Cost forecasting — Assist with detailed cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete estimates.
  • Contract administration — Support the day-to-day administration of contract agreements in line with contract terms and project procedures.
  • Commercial risk insight — Identify cost risks, trends, and opportunities, providing timely advice to the Contract Director.
  • Register management — Maintain contract and change registers, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Contractual communications — Prepare notices, instructions, variations, and clarifications with precision and compliance.
  • Measurement & valuation — Accurately measure and value change items and process them in accordance with contract terms.
  • Progress claim support — Assist in assessing progress claims for change items in collaboration with the broader team.
  • Change management — Monitor variations, provisional sums, delay costs, risk, and contingency drawdown.
  • Commercial reporting — Advise internally on interim assessments for inclusion in monthly payment claims.
  • Stakeholder engagement — Build effective working relationships with contractors, third parties, and internal functions.

About You

  • Relevant qualifications — Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Major project experience — Demonstrated experience as a Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Cost control expertise — Strong capability in cost control, measurement, and valuation of contract works, especially change items.
  • Systems proficiency — Experience using document management, finance, or project cost-tracking tools.
  • Professional membership — Membership, or working towards membership, of RICS, AIQS, or similar professional bodies.
  • Analytical strength — High numerical accuracy, strong analytical capability, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Contract administration knowledge — Solid understanding of contract interpretation and commercial management practices.
  • Technical interpretation — Ability to interpret drawings and specifications for measurement purposes.
  • Communication skills — Clear written and verbal communication with strong stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Commercial awareness — Proactive approach to identifying commercial and contract risks.
