What You'll Be Doing

  • Inspect and evaluate finished products for color, registration, print quality, ink adhesion, and physical dimensions.
  • Prepare heat and cohesive seal samples using laboratory sealing equipment.
  • Perform seal strength and lamination bond testing using tensile testing equipment.
  • Weigh raw materials and finished products using analytical balances.
  • Test product opacity using X-Rite equipment.
  • Conduct organoleptic (sensory) evaluations of finished materials.
  • Perform solvent retention testing using gas chromatography equipment.
  • Analyze coefficient of friction (COF) using Thwing-Albert testing equipment.
  • Record, analyze, and maintain quality data, test results, and statistical information.
  • Operate the Quality Assurance Table, including:
    • Cutting and preparing samples
    • Verifying repeat measurements
    • Identifying print defects
    • Documenting findings
    • Communicating quality concerns to appropriate personnel
  • Operate densitometers, X-Rite systems, and other color measurement software.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare job boards, color standard booklets, and other quality documentation.
  • Create accurate customer documentation, including:
    • Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
    • Customer correspondence
    • Run data forms
    • End-of-job summaries
    • Color standard submissions
  • Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets, and other software applications used for quality tracking.
  • Review and approve color standards prior to customer submission.
  • Affiliate in investigating product quality issues and identifying corrective actions.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe laboratory work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality programs.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with production and quality teams.
  • Perform overtime and additional duties as business needs require.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous quality assurance or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate work.
  • Can follow detailed procedures and work instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable performing laboratory testing and documenting results accurately.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Accurate logging, record keeping, and production documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgment and can make informed decisions based on product history and testing results.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
  • A high level of professionalism when working with customers and coworkers.
  • Dependable and willing to work overtime when needed.
