Duties

  • Works in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
  • Covers and documents inspections of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to meet customer specifications.
  • Verifies production test equipment is performing within accepted parameters.
  • Advises production when inspection results do not meet customer specifications.
  • Responsible for replenishing supplies and materials for assigned area.
  • Performs recording, filing duties, HFI, and related duties as required.
  • Performs troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on inspection equipment as required.
  • Performs on the job training and development of assigned personnel as needed.
  • Communicates pertinent information to next shift as well as production and quality assurance supervisors.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties as necessary.
  • Complies with requirements of ISO 9001 as it applies to the function of the position.
  • Performs sorting and inspection of materials or product as requested.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.

Job Scope

Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process associated with inspection area.
  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
    • Knowledge of all assigned equipment and products.
    • SPC/Infinity QS applications.
    • Must be able to do basic system problem solving.
    • Ability to learn all assigned equipment and products.
    • Ability to identify product defects in raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods using appropriate inspection procedures and test equipment.
    • Ability to learn customer specifications.
    • Ability to use charts and graphs utilizing computer skills.
    • Ability to create and promote atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation.
    • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Ability to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to maintain inspection equipment and gauges.
    • Ability to use measuring tools as required by the position, and calibrations.
    • Complete all required shift quality documentation and reports.
    • Strong critical thinking skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Able to communicate and work with others and be assertive as required.
    • Able to be organized, self-starter, and able to work under general supervision.
    • Must comply with quality, PPE requirements and safety and understand the importance of complying with safety policies and procedures.

Physical/Visual Demands/Work Environment

  • Must be able to work scheduled shifts based on production requirements.
  • Must work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to perform the physical activities required by the function of the position.
  • The environment is noisy and hearing protection is required.
  • Safety glasses are required.
  • Requires working with or near high-speed, automated equipment.
  • May work with materials that could irritate eyes, skin, and breathing.
  • This will require use of gloves, masks, or other protective equipment.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions

  • Inside conditions, extremes of heat (100+ seasonal), exposure to humidity, working in tight areas, high noise levels from production environment, including some exposure to outside weather elements, oil and dirt.
