Responsibilities
- Lead daily Quality Control activities supporting coolant plate machining, inspection, and production execution.
- Provide hands-on quality support to manufacturing operations, including first-piece inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, and production release.
- Ensure inspection activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, control plans, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Support production readiness by verifying inspection methods, inspection points, sampling plans, and reaction plans.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, NPI, and Operations teams to resolve quality issues and improve process performance.
- Support containment, segregation, disposition, and communication of nonconforming material.
- Drive timely escalation of quality risks, inspection failures, and production-impacting issues.
- Support implementation and execution of site Quality Management System requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable product/process controls.
- Support internal audits, layered process audits, process verification, and production readiness assessments.
- Affirm maintenance of control plans, inspection plans, quality alerts, standard work, and quality records.
- Support corrective and preventive action activities, including root cause analysis, containment, corrective action verification, and effectiveness checks.
- Maintain control over quality performance trends and support improvement actions related to defects, escapes, rework, scrap, and inspection findings.
- Own CMM inspection execution and support CMM program development, validation, and maintenance.
- Create, modify, and troubleshoot CMM programs based on engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T requirements, and inspection strategy.
- Ensure CMM programs are properly controlled, revision-aligned, and validated prior to production use.
- Support fixture development and validation for CMM inspection, including part orientation, repeatability, accessibility, and traceability.
- Ensure inspection results are accurately linked to part serial number, job number, fixture location, and production lot where applicable.
- Support measurement system analysis, including Gage R&R, repeatability studies, and correlation activities.
- Maintain inspection equipment readiness, calibration status, and proper use of metrology tools.
- Lead visual inspection processes and ensure inspectors are trained to identify product defects, cosmetic issues, machining anomalies, brazing concerns, and other process-related defects.
- Support development of visual inspection standards, defect libraries, acceptance criteria, and inspector training materials.
- Manage 3D inspection processes, including 3D scanning or optical inspection where applicable.
- Support X-Ray inspection development and execution for coolant plate inspection, including defect detection related to brazing, blockage, voids, internal features, or other critical failure modes.
- Partner with Engineering and external equipment suppliers to define inspection capability, limitations, programming needs, and validation requirements for 3D and X-Ray systems.
- Ensure inspection records, images, scans, and reports are properly documented and traceable.
- Supervise quality technicians, inspectors, CMM operators/programmers, and other quality associates assigned.
- Provide training, coaching, daily direction, and performance feedback to the quality inspection team.
- Establish daily priorities for inspection coverage, production support, equipment utilization, and quality issue response.
- Promote a strong quality culture focused on prevention, accountability, process discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Support staffing, shift coverage, skill matrix development, and training plans for associates.
- Communicate quality status, risks, and priorities to the Site Quality Assurance Manager and cross-functional leadership.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
- Minimum 7-8 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, metrology, machining inspection, or manufacturing quality.
- Prior experience in a machining, CNC, precision manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, thermal management, or similar technical manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with CMM inspection and CMM programming.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional inspection, and tolerance interpretation.
- Experience supporting manufacturing execution, production quality, nonconformance management, and corrective actions.
- Experience leading or supervising inspectors, technicians, or quality associates.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System requirements.
- Experience with ZEISS CMM equipment and CALYPSO programming strongly preferred.
- Experience with 3D scanning, optical measurement, CT/X-Ray inspection, or advanced metrology systems.
- Experience with coolant plates, cold plates, brazed assemblies, precision machined components, or thermal management products.
- Experience with PPAP, FAI, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, Gage R&R, and process capability studies.
- Experience supporting NPI, product transfer, pilot builds, production ramp, or new site launch activities.
- Experience creating inspection work instructions, defect libraries, visual standards, and inspector training documents.
- Familiarity with containment processes, MRB, 8D, A3, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods.
