Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coach the quality control team, assign daily tasks and ensure consistent application of quality procedures.
- Manage in-process and finished-goods inspections, sampling, testing and product release according to established specifications.
- Maintain and enforce food safety programs including HACCP, GMPs, allergen control and sanitation schedules.
- Conduct internal audits, support third-party and customer audits, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Use root-cause analysis and problem-solving tools (5 Whys, fishbone, FMEA) to investigate quality incidents and implement sustainable solutions.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, R&D and supply chain to resolve quality issues and support new product introductions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles to reduce defects, improve yield and optimize processes.
- Monitor quality metrics (yield, scrap, customer complaints, non-conformances) and prepare clear reports and trend analyses for management.
- Manage supplier quality performance, review certificates of analysis and coordinate supplier corrective actions when needed.
- Develop, deliver and maintain training programs on quality procedures, food safety and inspection techniques for production staff.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of quality experience in food production or a related manufacturing environment, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP), GMPs, allergen control and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools; Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) or demonstrable project experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using statistical process control (SPC) and quality data analysis tools; comfortable working with Excel and quality management software.
- Proven problem-solving skills, including root cause investigation and CAPA implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, influence and build cross-functional relationships.
- Attention to detail, organized documentation practices and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting.
- Certifications such as HACCP, ServSafe, ISO 22000/9001 or equivalent are a plus; willingness to work flexible shifts as required.
