Quality & Safety Improvement Consultant IV, Clinical Quality Consulting (KFH/HP)
About the Role
This position provides consultation and education related to clinical quality and patient safety, accreditation, regulatory and licensing (AR&L), risk management, and infection prevention and control. Responsibilities include contributing to the evaluation, design, and development of evidence-based guidelines and programs, facilitating implementation efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice, and optimizing patient outcomes. The role also involves assisting with clinical data collection, analysis, and reporting for various agencies, as well as educating teams on compliance methods and regulatory requirements.
Additional duties include monitoring and mitigating occurrences that may lead to medical center liability, supporting continuous survey readiness programs, and serving as a liaison with government and regulatory agencies.

- Conducts data extraction, statistical analysis, and presentations to support quality improvement efforts, including creating charts, graphs, and narrative summaries.
- Presents quality improvement metric reports to demonstrate program effectiveness.
- Documents and analyzes trends, potential errors, and other findings for supervisors.
- Facilitates quality improvement and risk management efforts by developing corrective action plans for areas identified through audits, surveys, and reviews.
- Ensures process improvements comply with internal and external regulations.
- Conducts root cause analysis, failure mode and effect analysis, and other assessments in response to significant events or near misses.
- Escalates high-risk issues and trends to appropriate entities for resolution.
- Develops and utilizes quality improvement performance metrics, collaborating with stakeholders to establish practical and cohesive metrics.
- Facilitates the collection of metric data using sound methodology.
- Implements methods and tools to develop stakeholders' capabilities for process improvements, integrating data-driven principles and Lean/Six-Sigma concepts.
- Develops and updates milestones, workplans, and documentation practices for quality improvement initiatives.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for quality improvement processes and regulations within assigned departments.
- Participates in committees and projects to propose enforcement actions or policy developments.
- Fosters collaborative partnerships to ensure compliance with regulations and improve patient safety.
- Delivers educational programs on regulatory requirements, internal concerns, and system/database usage.
- Conducts utilization and performance reviews using multidisciplinary criteria and guidelines.
- Identifies performance areas for improvement and provides feedback and coaching to stakeholders.
- Assists in developing training and educational programs related to process improvement for quality initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with databases, spreadsheets, or continuous quality improvement (CQI) tools.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a clinical setting, health care administration, or a directly related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field AND minimum four (4) years of experience in quality, performance improvement, customer service, or a directly related field OR minimum seven (7) years of experience in quality, performance improvement, customer service, or a directly related field.
- Registered Nurse License (California).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field.
- Health care clinical license from the practicing/applicable state (e.g., Registered Pharmacist (RPh), Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Social Worker).

Pay
$131,300 - $169,840 / year. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
