About This Position
The Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Improvement Consultant provides support to division and department leadership and medical staff to improve patient outcomes. They act as a consultant in performance improvement methods, systems thinking, change management, and data analysis at organizational, departmental, process, and individual levels. The QPS Improvement Consultant is integral to the success of the organizational Quality Management System, supporting improvement activities related to quality and patient safety, including:
- Ongoing tracking of medical errors and adverse events
- Analysis of data and root cause
- Partnering with leaders to facilitate multidisciplinary improvement groups
- Continuous monitoring of quality and safety in all clinics, hospital departments, and service areas
Requirements
Education
- Undergraduate degree in nursing or a health-related field (Master’s preferred)
Experience
- Two or more years of experience in a healthcare setting required
- One or more years of direct quality improvement experience preferred
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management standards preferred
- Experience working with the electronic medical record system Epic preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary groups and perform stakeholder analysis
- Knowledge of quality improvement techniques (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma, DMAIC, PDSA)
- Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated, and work independently
- Versatility in reprioritizing work based on team and organizational needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely
- Adept in facilitating complex meetings and discussions, redirecting conversations for clarity
- Ability to handle conflict positively and consider the needs of others
- Expertise in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
- Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English
Pay
Salary Range: $42.29 - $63.24 per hour (N24), based on experience. Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
