Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of lab technicians across multiple locations.
  • Maintain time and attendance records for each lab employee.
  • Conduct weekly calls with each lab to ensure effective communication and address any issues.
  • Learn and understand all test procedures performed in the labs.
  • Develop training documents and quizzes for lab technicians to obtain certification.
  • Generate work orders for equipment maintenance in each lab.
  • Ensure tests are conducted in a timely manner based on raw material orders received.
  • Oversee the processing of special projects through the Ecru Lab within designated timelines.
  • Review completed tests using the GLS Database.
  • Assist the Lab Manager in miscellaneous tasks and special projects, such as new raw material development or durability studies.
  • Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
  • Cook up and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals.
  • Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
  • Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews.
  • Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
  • Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
  • Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.
  • Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials.
  • Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., chemistry, biology, engineering).
  • At least 5 years of experience in laboratory management or a related field.
  • Experience managing a team of lab technicians.
  • Knowledge of test procedures and quality control standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
