Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of lab technicians across multiple locations.
- Maintain time and attendance records for each lab employee.
- Conduct weekly calls with each lab to ensure effective communication and address any issues.
- Learn and understand all test procedures performed in the labs.
- Develop training documents and quizzes for lab technicians to obtain certification.
- Generate work orders for equipment maintenance in each lab.
- Ensure tests are conducted in a timely manner based on raw material orders received.
- Oversee the processing of special projects through the Ecru Lab within designated timelines.
- Review completed tests using the GLS Database.
- Assist the Lab Manager in miscellaneous tasks and special projects, such as new raw material development or durability studies.
- Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
- Cook up and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals.
- Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
- Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews.
- Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
- Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
- Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.
- Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials.
- Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., chemistry, biology, engineering).
- At least 5 years of experience in laboratory management or a related field.
- Experience managing a team of lab technicians.
- Knowledge of test procedures and quality control standards.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
