About the role
The Quality Inspector at O-I's Lapel plant plays a crucial part in ensuring the quality of glass containers produced for various food and beverage brands. This role involves inspecting bottles on lehr and light stations, performing tests like annealing, tin, bearing surface, and scratch tests, and keeping the flow of ware moving through production lines.
Responsibilities
- Determines the quality of ware by inspecting bottles on lehr and light stations, making lehr cavity checks, and processing limit samples through electronic FPX equipment.
- Performs tests such as annealing, tin, bearing surface, and scratch tests.
- Makes minor adjustments when necessary to ensure proper operation of automatic inspection equipment.
- Prepares quality reports and informs Shift Foreman and Forming Department about defects found or occurring in glass.
- Responsible for culletting (CID) or dumping ware when critical defects are found.
- Saves defect samples and shares information with Forming Department for correction.
- Reviews job cards, limit samples, and cavity reports to understand the quality requirements of the jobs.
- Completes at least one HAZ-ID per month and monthly Skillsoft assignments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Previous quality experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime, as required.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Highly safety conscious.
