Quality Improvement Coordinator
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Quality Improvement Manager and working collaboratively with the comprehensive healthcare team, this position organizes, develops, coordinates, and assists in directing the Quality Improvement Program within the Health Services Department at the Allegheny County Jail. The incumbent provides operational and strategic leadership to support the delivery of healthcare services and focuses on reviewing and analyzing the fidelity and integrity of policies.
Duties
- Ensures that the department's services meet and exceed the expectations of accrediting bodies.
- Develops, reviews, and revises policies and procedures to increase the standard of care within the Health Services Department.
- Acts as a liaison for partnerships and stakeholders to ensure an increase in services and holistic care provisions for the incarcerated population.
- Develops, generates, analyzes, and evaluates relevant data and reports.
- Creates and maintains a dashboard for tracking and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant metrics.
- Conducts routine process reviews to establish efficient provision of services and works to increase the availability of services.
- Maintains confidentiality of all medical records.
- Attends and assists with the coordination of quarterly Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) meetings.
- Develops, oversees, and monitors process improvement plans.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of:
- The healthcare delivery system.
- Healthcare administration within a correctional setting.
- Laws and legislation of the ACA, Title 37, NCCHC, and PREA.
- Criminal justice system.
- Skill in:
- Computer program proficiency, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Policy writing skills.
- Electronic Health Care records a plus.
- Ability to:
- Interact with incarcerated individuals with a sensitivity and understanding of a specific population's needs.
- Lead, function independently, and make informed decisions using sound professional judgment.
- Supervise the quality of care and treatment provided to incarcerated individuals.
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, goals, and objectives for providing quality care.
- Communicate effectively with correctional staff, jail administrative and medical management, patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
- Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a stressful environment.
- Solve complex problems efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma AND two (2) years of experience in healthcare administration, program coordination/development, policy writing, quality improvement/quality assurance, or a related field.
- A bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business, or Social Work preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.
- Act 33/34 clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant. Must obtain CPR/BLS certification within six (6) months of appointment.

- Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County
