About the role
Lead the Quality department in our manufacturing facility, developing the team to ensure compliance with company, customer, industry, and regulatory standards. This position will drive the implementation of quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction. The role focuses on root cause analysis and cross-departmental auditing, building a quality department from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Quality Engineering and Quality Inspection teams—coaching, mentoring, and managing performance to align with business goals.
- Develop Taurus' quality management systems (QMS).
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to certifications and quality standards.
- Analyze quality data and implement corrective actions to address non-conformances.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.
- Interface with internal and external suppliers to meet needs and satisfy expectations.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans.
- Train and mentor quality team members on best practices and quality standards.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics and performance indicators.
- Support new product development and introduction processes.
- Manage the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
- Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and reduce costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field or a minimum of 5+ years of experience in quality management within the manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience leading teams through business changes, including coaching, mentoring, and motivating teams.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and industry standards; internal auditor training and certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated history of ownership, accountability, and team building.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes, including the ability to teach these tools to direct and indirect reports.
