Responsibilities

The QC Technician’s essential responsibilities include:

  • Ensure Quality Control by conducting routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site.
  • Adhere to testing methods, including American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Manage customer relationships at the jobsite level, providing jobsite service and first line technical support, including quality control, safety, and environmental oversight.
  • Coordinate and attend pre-pour meetings.
  • Complete all required reports in a timely and accurate manner, interpreting, documenting, and storing the results.
  • Communicate test results in a timely manner to the supervisor and properly document in a database.
  • Maintain Lab Standards by ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained in and around the lab, troubleshooting problems, and reviewing basic product specifications.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment periodically.
  • Promote Vulcan RMC value-added products, including specialty chemicals, fibers, and color concrete.
  • Communicate customer and market information to the sales team.

Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Prior training or experience in the materials testing field is preferred. Knowledge of general principles and practices of aggregate production is required.

  • Certifications: Must possess ACI Concrete Field Testing - Grade 1 certification as a baseline. Concrete Technologist Level 2 or 3 will be an advantage.
  • Safety Knowledge: Must display knowledge and awareness of construction and mining site hazards.
  • Math Skills: Must possess good math skills and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations.
  • Technology Skills: Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.

Pay

The hourly range for this role is between $25.62 - $28.80. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
