Quality Control Shop Inspector
About the Role
As a Quality Control Shop Inspector at RAM Aerospace, you ensure the quality and precision of aerospace components through detailed visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections. Using tools like CMM machines and precision handheld instruments, you verify that parts meet strict specifications at every stage—from first article to final test. Your work helps maintain the safety, reliability, and performance of mission-critical systems in aviation, space, and defense. If you have a meticulous eye for detail, a deep understanding of GD&T, and the confidence to halt production if a part isn't perfect, we want you on our team.
Responsibilities
- Precision Measurement & Inspection: Inspect, test, and measure manufactured products for strict conformance to requirements using precision handheld inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, drop gauges) and automated measuring machines (CMMs).
- Blueprint & GD&T Analysis: Analyze and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) data, and manuals to determine specifications, inspection procedures, and certification methods.
- Defect Identification & Resolution: Reject non-conforming products, materials, or equipment, discuss inspection results with production teams, and recommend corrective actions.
- Documentation & Traceability: Maintain accurate documentation, including detailed inspection reports, test data (dimensions, weights, temperatures), and marking physical items with grade and acceptance/rejection status.
- Visual & Functional Verification: Compare product attributes (colors, shapes, textures) against standard templates and verify processing equipment functionality by reading dials and meters. Clean or adjust equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Legal: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
- ITAR Compliance: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Previous experience in quality control inspection, machining, or precision manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools. Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100, statistical process control (SPC), and Kaizen principles is preferred.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for maintaining quality records and writing reports.
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task with limited supervision, and effective communication with the machine shop.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit and stand constantly, lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely, and handle small parts and precision tools with excellent manual dexterity.
Benefits
- Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for you and your family.
- Short-Term Disability & Voluntary Benefits: Additional protection and peace of mind.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support for personal, financial, and emotional well-being.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) & Paid Holidays: Generous time off to relax and spend with loved ones.
- Paid Parental Leave: Time to bond with your new addition and transition smoothly back to work.
- 401(K) Retirement Account: Employer-matched retirement savings plan.
- Tuition Assistance: Support for your education and future growth.
- Flexible Work Schedule: Balance work and personal life with flexibility.
