About the role
Inspectors are key personnel in the Accurus Quality Department, performing inspections on newly received goods and work-in-process, and final inspections of machined aerospace parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and work instructions. They document specific information regarding approvals and non-conforming parts and may be involved in problem-solving to identify rework requirements. Additionally, they provide quality and/or manufacturing process training for manufacturing personnel.
Responsibilities
- Determines and utilizes appropriate inspection methods and instruments (micrometers, height gauges, air gauges, radius gauges, calipers, CMM, etc.) to complete in-process and final inspection of machined aerospace parts and assemblies, including simple to moderate layouts and setups on a surface plate
- Operates CMM
- Inspects complex machined fixtures and parts using advanced measuring and layout instruments and equipment
- Participates in design reviews on cross-functional teams to ensure that conformance to specifications, inspectability, reliability, and quality system objectives are met; provides technical support for manufacturing operations to ensure part quality
- Aids engineering with the qualification and validation of new or changed tooling or parts
- Interprets drawings featuring Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) to identify product inspection requirements
- Generates inspection reports; analyzes inspection reports to determine adherence to drawings, specifications, and processing procedures; initiates nonconformance records and disposition of parts not meeting requirements
- Prepares detailed inspection documentation, such as written descriptions of inspection results, including deviations from engineering specifications
- Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external personnel to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors and trends, and negotiate the resolution of non-conforming parts and necessary rework or re-inspection
- Performs other duties as required
