Role and Responsibilities
- Independently perform and document detailed inspections of complex products and assemblies, including advanced electronic components, cable harnesses, RF assemblies, mechanical enclosures, and integrated sub-systems.
- Lead root cause identification efforts for recurring or high-impact inspection issues in collaboration with QA Engineering.
- Conduct receiving, in-process inspections; support First Article Inspection (FAI) processes in accordance with AS9012 standards.
- Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors in proper inspection methods, tool usage, and documentation practices.
- Serve as quality liaison with production, engineering, and supply chain to drive immediate resolution of quality issues.
- Afford assistance in the development and refinement of inspection procedures and checklists based on lessons learned and product feedback.
- Review and validate inspection records for accuracy and completeness, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Act as departmental point of contact during audits, customer visits, or technical reviews related to inspection activities.
- Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on inspection experience with electronic components, mechanical assemblies, or similar systems.
- Advanced proficiency using inspection tools and test equipment (e.g., multi-meters, calipers, micrometers, microscopes, torque drivers).
- Strong experience inspecting against IPC standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620), with working knowledge of defect criteria and process controls.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex technical documentation, including schematics, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and routing diagrams.
- Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Capable of identifying, documenting, and communicating non-conformances and contributing to corrective/preventive actions.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
- All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Current IPC certifications (J-STD-001, IPC-J-STD 610, or IPC-A-620).
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection standards.
- Experience supporting audits or acting as a quality SME during cross-functional reviews.
- Comfortable collaborating across departments and communicating directly with engineers, program managers, or customers.
- Capable of identifying opportunities for process improvement and driving implementation with minimal oversight.
Compensation
$28.60 - $29.70 / hourly.
