Key Responsibilities
- Interpret complex manufacturing drawings, including limited dimension, model-based, and GD&T.
- Select appropriate inspection equipment and perform high-tolerance mechanical inspections.
- Conduct visual inspections according to Kform, customer, and MIL spec workmanship standards.
- Complete documentation such as dimensional inspection reports and non-conformance documentation.
- Develop and follow quality plans, including special control plans.
- Maintain and manage the equipment calibration schedule.
- Process returns of Non-Conforming Materials (NCM).
- Perform root cause analysis using the 5 Why methodology.
- Prioritize inspection activities based on the production schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in quality control or a related field.
- Familiarity with gauging and inspection equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Ability to interpret complex manufacturing drawings and apply GD&T.
- Experience in completing first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, including AS9100 standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or Certified Quality Technician.
- Experience working in an AS9100 environment.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Ability to complete AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in using computers and standard software.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform basic math, including Algebra and Geometry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with process measurement and improvement techniques.
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on the production schedule.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other elements.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Other Requirements
- Familiarity with safety protocols and operating in a manufacturing environment.
- Adaptability to work in a changing prototype environment.
