Quality Control Inspector
About the role
EZARC, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support quality assurance and inspection activities within our structural steel fabrication operations. The QC Inspector inspects fabricated products, welds, materials, dimensions, fit‑up, and finished components to ensure they meet contract specifications, customer requirements, applicable codes, and EZARC quality standards. The role works closely with Production, Welding, Fabrication, Shipping, and Quality Control personnel to identify quality issues, document inspection results, and ensure products are properly inspected and prepared for the next stage of production or shipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of fabricated structural steel components and welds to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and EZARC quality standards.
- Inspect welds and verify proper production fit‑up prior to welding.
- Inspect incoming materials, components, and welding consumables for compliance with required specifications.
- Verify dimensional accuracy and fabrication tolerances using measuring tapes, calipers, gauges, squares, and other inspection equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Verify weld sizes, locations, lengths, profiles, and general workmanship.
- Monitor fabrication activities for compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable fabrication standards.
- Identify defects, discrepancies, and nonconforming work; communicate findings promptly to supervisors and production personnel.
- Document and track items requiring correction or rework; reject, quarantine, or place products on hold when they do not meet quality requirements.
- Perform final inspections to verify completed products are ready for shipment, including checks for damage, missing components, labeling, packaging, and quantity.
- Document inspection results through QC reports, logs, checklists, and non‑conformance records; record dimensions, quantities, material grades, temperatures, weights, and other required measurements.
- Prepare clear and accurate inspection reports documenting findings, corrective actions, repairs, and disposition of nonconforming work.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and quality‑related activities, including traceability of inspected materials and fabricated components.
- Complete required packing, inspection, and shipping documentation when applicable.
- Communicate quality concerns and documentation requirements to Production and Quality Control personnel.
- Work directly with welders, fitters, fabricators, and supervisors to identify and resolve quality concerns; provide technical assistance regarding drawings, weld details, dimensions, specifications, and fabrication requirements.
- Review fabrication work at appropriate stages to identify potential quality issues before they progress.
- Assist with weld testing and qualification activities as directed by the Quality Control Manager.
- Coordinate with third‑party inspectors and NDT personnel as directed; assist with scheduling and coordination of required non‑destructive testing.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring quality issues and communicating opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection and work area.
- Perform other quality control and fabrication‑related duties as assigned.
