Quality control inspectors perform inspections of fabricated structural steel; to include periodic and continuous inspection of welding, weld fit-up, dimensional inspection of cuts, copes, camber, and holes on holes only beams, plain material, angles, and ship loose pieces, both in-process and final, to ensure pieces meet drawing requirements. Other duties include; Using detailed drawings for information to inspect. Recording daily inspections on Q.C. Travelers. Performing paint thickness inspections. Working with Senior Inspector and Shop Quality Manager to resolve daily issues. Helping maintain flow of work thru the shop. Performing inspection of simple and complex parts using applicable drawings. Working with other departments. Ability to read blueprints and fabrication detailsAble to read and understand welding symbolsAble to perform weld inspectionsAbility to write legibly using various markersAble to move parts with cranes and on cartsAble to operate a forkliftAbility to read and use tape measures, squares and other measuring devicesAbility to work within tolerancesWilling to ask questions when unsureAbility to effectively complete required documentationAbility to work well with othersAbility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, and changePerform other duties as assignedGood English skills. Able to speak, read and understandGood verbal and written communication skills (both in the quality department as well as production team)CAWI3-5 years experience in the structural steel industry3-5 years experience working from blueprintsPrior experience in Quality Control is desiredLevel 1 training in UTKnowledge of CT&C Fabrications QM and QC proceduresKnowledge of applicable codes and standardsSkill in completing required documentationSkill in organizing drawings and informationAbility to learn new proceduresAbility to read and interpret fabrication drawings drawn in, but not limited to AUTOCADHigh School diploma or equivalent is preferred MBS and SDS
