Quality Control Inspector

About the role

Avelo Airlines, America’s first new airline in nearly 15 years, is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to deliver quality oversight of the Technical Operations Departments. This role ensures regulatory and company requirements are adhered to, maintaining aircraft, engines, appliances, and components in a safe, airworthy, efficient, and economic manner. The position is vital to the safety of our customers and crewmembers and the airworthiness of our aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality oversight for all maintenance activities.
• Monitor work in-progress to ensure appropriate technical manuals and tools are utilized during inspections and maintenance.
• Ensure Required Inspection Items (RII) are identified as per company policies and procedures.
• Promote proper use of terminology for aircraft discrepancies.
• Direct aircraft technicians performing service, maintenance, repair, and/or ramp activities.
• Perform preliminary, in-progress, hidden damage, and final inspections.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of documentation; conduct final reviews of maintenance records prior to archival.
• Keep forms and tags current and available for technicians.
• Review maintenance documentation and validate Service Difficulty Reporting (SDR) reportable items.
• Verify proper turnover procedures are utilized.
• Perform inspections of Required Inspection Items (RII) and Buy Back inspections.
• Continuously monitor complicated repairs/maintenance items throughout completion.
• Ensure incomplete inspection items are properly recorded and turned over to the next shift.
• Perform self-audits to ensure the quality of maintenance support processes, including:
  • Calibrated tools are serviceable and within calibration dates.
  • Shelf-life items are within expiration dates.
  • Quarantine and scrapped parts are properly tagged, segregated, and dispositioned.
• Perform material inspections of incoming aircraft components to ensure use of serviceable, conforming, and applicable parts.
• Participate in the Suspected Unapproved Parts program.
• Engage in the Safety Management System (SMS) Program and report safety-related issues to leadership.

Requirements

• High School diploma (or equivalent).
• Current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
• Current and valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• At least 3 years of maintenance experience on large airplanes (10+ seats) with an air carrier or certificated repair station.
• High knowledge level of RII and quality control processes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (and ability to learn others such as IOSA, DOD, OSHA).
• Ability to read and understand processes and procedures in company manuals efficiently.
• Strong communication skills for working with crewmembers and federal authorities.
• Ability to move throughout office or line maintenance environments for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours per day).
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Ability to travel for training, deployment, or issue resolution up to 25%.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments around aircraft in all climates.
• Ability to move 50 lbs. over a distance of 10 feet.
• Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Must have the authority to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigration Act of 1986.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current and valid passport.
• Boeing 737 experience highly preferred.
• 1 year as a Quality Inspector preferred.

Pay

$36–$44 per hour based on years of experience.
