Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds, structural steel, and piping systems to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Verify that welding activities meet applicable codes such as AWS, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel and B31 Codes, and relevant API standards.
- Inspect structural steel installations, including alignment, bolting, and connections, to ensure proper fit, integrity, and conformance with design requirements.
- Inspect piping systems, including fit-up, welds, hydrostatic testing, and installation, to confirm they meet project and code requirements.
- Identify and document non-conformance issues, deficiencies, and deviations from specifications, and communicate these findings to appropriate stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and turnover documentation to provide clear records of inspection activities and outcomes.
- Review and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, blueprints, and technical specifications to plan and execute inspection activities accurately.
- Witness and document required tests, such as non-destructive examinations (NDE), pressure testing, and material verification, ensuring that results are properly recorded.
- Coverage with contractors and site teams to ensure that corrective actions are implemented effectively and in a timely manner.
- Monitor contractor quality performance and ensure adherence to project quality plans, procedures, and standards.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality meetings as required to support continuous improvement of quality processes and project execution.
- Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally to construction teams, contractors, and project leadership to support informed decision-making.
Essential Skills
- 3–7+ years of QA/QC or inspection experience in industrial construction, power generation, or oil and gas environments.
- Strong experience with welding inspection, including visual and dimensional assessment of weld quality and compliance.
- Strong experience with structural steel inspection, including alignment, bolting, and connection verification.
- Strong experience with piping systems inspection, including fit-up, welds, hydrostatic testing, and installation checks.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel and B31 Codes and their application to welding and piping systems.
- Knowledge of relevant API standards as applicable to the project scope.
- Experience in construction inspection within power generation or similar industrial facilities.
- Ability to prepare clear, detailed documentation and reporting, including inspection reports, logs, and turnover packages.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with construction teams, contractors, and project leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify non-conformances and deficiencies in construction and fabrication work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
- Non-destructive testing (NDT) certifications such as UT, MT, PT, or VT are a plus.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is highly beneficial.
- Experience in power generation environments and familiarity with industrial conditions.
- Ability to participate effectively in audits, inspections, and quality meetings.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple inspection tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse site teams and contractors to drive quality outcomes.
