Quality Control Inspector

About the Role

The QA/QC Inspector plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products. This role represents ACCO and its subcontractors for pipe and equipment installation, welding inspection, and oversight of subcontractor installation and quality. The QA/QC Inspector will participate in the General Contractor's project quality program, documenting installation activities.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned products or components.
• Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
• Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input on vendor vetting decisions for future purchases.
• Documents data obtained during quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies, codes, and procedures.
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and recommends process improvements to management.
• Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
• Maintains a working knowledge of codes and specifications for current industry quality standards.
• Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Prepares and presents technical information and reports to team members and management.
• Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Site QC Supervisor or QA/QC Director in conjunction with the project team.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in Quality Control, with a minimum of 3 years focused on ASME B31 piping codes, industrial and commercial construction, fabrication, welding, non-destructive testing, or similar fields.
• Current certification in accordance with AWS QC-1 as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or ICC Mechanical – Commercial Certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Regular and routine attendance.

Physical Requirements

• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include Jaeger (J1) vision annually.
• Regularly required to walk, climb stairs, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Schedule

This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday, with a one-hour break for lunch and two rest breaks.

Travel

Based on business needs, travel may be required to and from the primary office to regional branch offices and job sites.
