Quality Control Inspector 12

About the role

The QC Inspector performs various types of inspections within the plant, including gauge and instrument inspection of materials, goods in process, and finished products.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with safety protocols, SOPs, and work instructions, including Lockout-Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, ISO, and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Monitor the production process at prescribed intervals to inspect product characteristics according to established quality control procedures.
• Inspect in-process and finished products using laboratory equipment, gauges, and instruments, comparing results to established specifications.
• Read and record process data into prescribed forms or charts.
• Verify adherence to specifications for incoming materials, in-process products, finished products, and packaging through inspection and testing.
• Prevent the use of non-conforming or unapproved materials in the production process.
• Inform maintainers and supervisors of quality issues and suggest possible causes or corrective actions.
• Assist production personnel as needed.
• Perform routine checks and maintain test equipment through preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Direct and assist in sorting segregated or questionable materials that are out of specification, performing detailed visual inspections where judgment is required.
• Examine products, remove defectives, and return acceptable products to the line.
• Record related data as required.
• Maintain color standards and prepare run standards.
• Perform gauge maintenance, verification, and gauge R and R.
• Validate printer changeovers, label changes, date codes, and UPC.
• Ensure standards are in place and meet requirements.
• Perform camera and light tester verification, including making test cans and finding HFI cutoffs.
• Conduct resampling, product segregation, and additional quality checks as directed.
• Perform internal audits of quality checks.
• Operate equipment and assist production as directed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Passing score on a combined basic skills assessment, administered at the facility.
• Familiarity with Personal Protective Equipment, hand tools, and proper handling of chemicals and solvents.
• Ability to use and understand gauges and measurement tools.
• Minimum 1+ years’ experience in a quality role, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer skills and strong attention to detail.

Physical Demands

• Able to work a 12-hour/4-day rotating shift.
• Successfully complete pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Able to stand for long durations.
• Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
• Able to lift 40 pounds; push/pull up to 75 pounds.
• Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes, and loud noise.
