Quality Conformance Manager I
About the role
Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking a Quality Conformance Manager I to join our team based in Mobile, AL. This role supports quality on-time and on-cost delivery by ensuring processes meet regulatory, company, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Administer the ongoing development of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Investigate specific quality issues arising from system failures or design deficiencies to reduce costs and foster continuous improvement
- Set measurement standards and improve processes to increase performance, reliability, and repeatability of processes
- Resolve complex quality issues and lead continuous improvement projects
- Generate key performance indicator reports to measure quality performance and communicate to management team
- Create dashboards and visual management tools to identify deficiencies in the quality system
- Analyze non-conformities, aircraft logbook, audit findings, and operational surveillance to initiate appropriate corrective actions
- Support inspection personnel when issues arise to determine root cause and corrective action
- Implement and monitor control plans, inspection plans, industrial qualification, calibration, and metrology monitoring to ensure quality standards are achieved
- Perform operational surveillance to monitor compliance to regulatory and company standards
- Qualify new personnel through predefined requirements process
- Introduce and qualify new tools and jigs into the process flow
- Perform out-of-tolerance calibration reports, tooling, and potential escapes due to process deficiencies
- Participate in periodic meetings with quality, supporting departments, and design office personnel
- Implement and monitor aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) including compliance to all applicable regulatory (EASA, FAA), standards (EN9100/9110, APQP, PFMEA), policies, directives, processes, and methods
- Support internal and external audits and follow-up activities
- Validate the implementation of customer and type design holder requirements in the quality management system
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technology, aviation, engineering, business, manufacturing, or equivalent experience
- 3 years in aviation quality, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, data analytics, business administration, manufacturing, maintenance-related field
- Knowledge of topics key to Quality, i.e., proactive prevention and continuous improvement, APQP, core tools (Quality Gates, CI's/KT's, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, PPS), Q6, CNQ, workmanship and FOD prevention
- Good knowledge about non-conformance management and Root Cause Analysis methods
- Strong and effective Practical Problem Solving skills (demonstrable)
- Understanding of Kaizen approach to Manufacturing
- Customer service-oriented and attention to detail
- Active listening skills necessary to the success of teamwork
- Proactive with the ability to meet deadlines
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, and integrity
- Knowledge of quality management system for aircraft design and manufacturing
- Knowledge of aircraft mechanical & electrical installation
- Ability to quickly understand procedural and technical documents
- Demonstration of cultural awareness and conflict resolution needed for success in a global company
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written in English
Preferred
- Valid FAA A&P, ASQ Quality Engineer Certificate
- French, German, and/or Spanish language proficiency
- Technical Systems Proficiency: Familiarity with SAP system
- Intermediate level computer typing skills
- Intermediate level of understanding and utilization of Google Suite
