Quality Assurance Technician- Morning Shift 7a-3p
About the role
We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands to $1+B in the next 2 years through a combination of organic growth and M&A. This position will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth, based at our Kar’s Nuts Products facility in Madison Heights, Michigan. The role ensures all products meet company and regulatory quality and safety standards by monitoring production processes, conducting inspections and tests, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will assist operations by managing the movement, storage, and distribution of finished goods to ensure smooth and efficient production while maintaining food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure product is made according to specifications by measuring and testing raw and finished products using basic laboratory equipment.
- Place non-conforming products on hold for further inspection and disposition as needed.
- Check various measurements in accordance with SQF requirements and standards.
- Perform visual inspections and ATP swabs on equipment post-sanitation.
- Perform Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits and monitor adherence to GMPs on the production floor.
- Effectively communicate any issues to appropriate personnel (Packers, production, maintenance, etc.).
- Complete accurate QA documentation using basic computer skills.
- Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Q&FS (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Calculator and computer proficiency.
- English language proficiency.
- Self-directed with the ability to work well with peers and supervisors.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to follow directions, and work independently.
- Minimum 1-year previous food safety and quality assurance experience (preferred).
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high, and employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment. This is an indoor food manufacturing setting.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with weekend overtime as needed. 40 hours weekly.
Pay
Starting rate of $18.00 per hour.
