Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices, Kwest safety procedures, client requirements, and applicable standard operating procedures.
- Provide real-time quality assurance, technical advice, constructability input, and field oversight to support successful project execution.
- Perform regular project site walk-throughs, inspections, and quality control checks to identify risks, document deficiencies, and communicate gaps in quality, safety, schedule, or technical execution.
- Review and understand plans, specifications, addenda, drawings, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and other project documents.
- Participate in regular meetings with site managers, project managers, senior project managers, general superintendents, clients, and field teams to promote best practices, resolve issues, and communicate project status.
- Train, educate, guide, teach, and show craft workers proper installation procedures and effective means and methods for completing work safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
- Support, manage, and direct assigned crews as required to execute daily and future work activities.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute field work plans for crews to support project completion, production goals, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of required field reports, production tracking, inspections, quality documentation, and safety records.
- Ensure craft workers are operating heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure crews safely and efficiently perform sitework, underground utility installation, grading, layout, and related civil construction activities.
- Complete and/or support required electronic quality forms and documentation, including concrete pre-pour and post-pour forms, inspection reports, site reports, and other project records.
- Use and/or support field layout and grade-control activities, including transits, builder's levels, grade lasers, and related survey tools; GPS and total station experience are beneficial.
- Support use of HCSS Heavy Job or similar software as needed; HCSS experience is beneficial but not required.
- Liaise with clients and project stakeholders, report progress, help resolve day-to-day issues, and represent Kwest Group professionally.
- Monitor project progress, field productivity, quality issues, materials, equipment, costs, and constraints; communicate needs and concerns to project leadership.
- Aid in buying or coordinating materials for project phases as assigned.
- Check and prepare site reports, designs, drawings, and other field documentation as required.
- Enforce adherence to current Kwest practices, standard operating procedures, documentation standards, and clear recordkeeping for equipment operation, process instructions, field data, and quality activities.
- Schedule and complete assigned duties with minimal direct supervision.
- Conduct interviews and provide hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and/or termination recommendations for crew members as assigned.
- Represent Kwest Group in a professional manner in all instances.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate is preferred.
- 15 years of work experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist, Site Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, Concrete Superintendent, or similar field leadership/quality role is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of concrete construction, including forming, rebar, anchor bolts, critical embedded items, walls, footings, mass foundations, elevated decks with shoring, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and quality inspection.
- Good knowledge of sitework, grading, underground utilities, pipe installation, structures, civil construction sequencing, and construction site safety.
- Extremely proficient with transits, builder's levels, grade lasers, and field layout fundamentals. GPS and total station experience are beneficial.
- Proficient with construction technology, electronic documentation systems, Microsoft Office, and project management software. HCSS HeavyJob experience is beneficial.
- Capable of accurately completing electronic forms and field documentation, including concrete pre-pour and post-pour forms, daily reports, inspection forms, and quality records.
- Able to read, understand, and interpret DOT-style plans, specifications, drawings, addenda, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.
- Strong technical, organizational, multitasking, time-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to communicate clearly, respectfully, and effectively with craft workers.
- Physically capable of performing construction activities for training purposes and completing inspection duties in the field.
- Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, accountability, sound judgment, and commitment to the corporate mission and values.
- Valid state driver's license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company's driving policy.
- Clean driving record.
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Able to work out of town, sometimes out of state, and for lengths of time as the job may dictate.
- Able to attend all mandatory safety meetings and participate in discussions with the work crew and any safety personnel on site.
- Able to pass drug, driving, background, and pre-employment screening.
