QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (PROJECTS)
About the role
You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (PROJECTS) in the Welding Engineering Division (Code 138) within the Quality Assurance Office (Code 130), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Responsibilities
- Develop procedures, instructions and technical requirements and certification of employees, for processes involving the performance of all NDT processes.
- Establish requirements for the technical evaluation of NDT to assure continuing compliance to NAVSEA instructions.
- Interpret source documents to include NAVSEA manuals, military specifications, industry standards, etc.
- Review and evaluate new technology and innovations for implementation and incorporation into the NNSY NDT program as necessary.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience possessing certification as a certified NAVSEA Level III NDT Examiner.
- Experience demonstrating mastery of NDT concepts, principles, and methodologies, including but not limited to Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Eddy Current Inspection (ECI).
- Experience utilizing surface ship and submarine systems, including hull, piping, and mechanical components. This includes knowledge of their functional relationships, operating conditions, and repair processes.
- Experience applying In-depth knowledge of NAVSEA technical publications (e.g., T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, MIL-STD-2035), military specifications, and industry standards related to NDT.
- Experience communicating both orally and in writing to develop and implement complex technical concepts, instructions, and certification programs.
